Congratulations to PDS Girls’ Varsity Ice Hockey Prep Champs

The Princeton Day School (PDS) girls’ ice hockey team reigns supreme, having bested Oak Knoll in a 5-0 performance to earn the Prep Championship. Their impressive run to the February 8 Prep final included playing each round as the visiting team, defeating Pingry in the quarter finals and, two days later, beating the No. 1 seed, four-time defending champions Morristown-Beard School with a score of 3-2 to get to the final.

Dethroning the defending champions in the semis fueled the confidence of the PDS squad as they started strong in the final. After an early goal from Ally Antonacci ’22, the Panthers took a commanding lead early in the second period with another goal by Antonacci and goals by Emily McCann ’24, Lauren Chase ’23, and Logan Harrison ’24. Bolstered by their active offense and strong defense, including 17 saves from goalie Abby Ashman ’23, the team cruised to the Prep title.

Head Coach John Ritchie is proud of the team and grateful for the strong backing of the community. “Without the support of Princeton Day School and the Athletics Program, as well as the parents of the team members, none of this would have been possible,” he said.
