Blue Curtain Concerts at Pettoranello Gardens Amphitheater
Blue Curtain, a Princeton summer tradition, returns to Pettoranello Gardens Amphitheater, located at Route 206 and Mountain Avenue, with three family-friendly, free outdoor concerts in July. All concerts begin at 8 p.m.
The series opens with Jimmy Bosch Salsa Masters on July 8. This concert is part of the Jimmy Bosch Tribute World Tour, celebrating 50 years in salsa and Latin jazz. Also known as “El Trombon Criollo,” Bosch is a jazz and salsa trombonist, composer, and bandleader of Puerto Rican descent. Born and raised in New Jersey, Bosch performs all over the state with the goal of making his audiences get up and dance.
On July 15, experience the sounds of flamenco as you might find in Andalusian Spain. Flamenco guitarist Juan Carmona and his band are widely regarded as some of today’s most talented flamenco musicians. They have been nominated for the Latin Grammy Award for Best Flamenco Album of the Year for the past five years.
The Blue Curtain summer series concludes on July 22 with Rufus Reid & Expedition. Legendary jazz bassist Rufus Reid is a world-class musician, composer, and educator who has performed with jazz giants Dexter Gordon, Stan Getz, and Kenny Barron. On July 22, Reid will be joined by a quartet including Roxy Coss on saxophone, Freddie Hendrix on trumpet, Roberta Piket on piano, and Kenneth Salters on drums.
Blue Curtain is sponsored by the Princeton Recreation Department. Concertgoers are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs and blankets. In case of rain or extreme weather, the shows will move to Princeton High School Performing Arts Center at Franklin Avenue and Walnut Lane in Princeton.
