Cornell Hawks Are Nesting – Watch Now!
The Cornell Lab Bird Cams website is a free resource that connects viewers worldwide to the diverse and intimate world of birds. Offering a virtual window into the natural world, Cornell’s faculty, students, and staff aim to make birdwatching an active and engaging experience. It is The Cornell Lab’s belief that bird appreciation leads to increased conservation, education, and engagement with planet earth, and bird species in particular.
A red-tailed hawk pair has been nesting above Cornell University’s athletic fields since 2012. The birds make use of two different light towers for their nest sites. In 2012, 2015, 2018, and 2019, they used the tower nearest Weill Hall. The university installed cameras at both of these sites to get a better look at the behavior of these well-known birds as they raise their young amid the bustle of Ithaca.
