Drop-In Chess Sessions for Youths at PPL

Second through sixth graders can drop into Saturday chess sessions at the Princeton Public Library, on the second and fourth Saturdays of each month. A session will be held Saturday, February 22 from 3:30 to 5 p.m. on the third floor of the library in the STEAM Studio.

Drop in to play chess led by volunteers from Impact Chess, a local nonprofit organization dedicated to bringing chess to youths in the community. Impact Chess believes that “chess could help communities become more logical and sympathetic. Students are the most impressionable people, and by educating the next generation with critical thinking, creativity, logic, grit, and pattern recognition skills, we can make a brighter future for all of us,” according to its website. The group has sponsored popular Chess in the Park events in Turning Basin Park, and its president is former Princeton Day School student Eric Wu.

The sessions are intended for beginners or with some chess experience. Registration is not necessary.

Check the events calendar for the exact dates and location of the session that you wish to attend, as the schedule is subject to change.
