Original paintings by James Squeakie Stone
Prices vary
James Squeakie Stone is a self-taught artist from the rural Low Country whose nostalgic paintings portray a simpler way of life in Coastal South Carolina. He draws his inspiration from childhood when “the work was hard, but life was slower, more simple. Not so many distractions and bills to pay.” Squeakie went to work in factories and grocery stores until he became a house painter for nearly 25 years. In 2007, he became a full-time artist and now his paintings have been bought up by collectors across the United States and abroad. Squeakie says that he now paints more pictures than he does houses because his paintings get snatched up so quickly.
These original works of acrylic on canvas can be purchased through the Charleston Artist Collective and Spring Gully Folk Art, Squeakie’s own personal website.
The Charleston Artist Collective is dedicated to promoting the artist’s of Charleston, South Carolina. Their online gallery donates a percentage of all proceeds to local Charleston charities, the goal being to provide the world with access to affordable, original art that is distinctly Southern in flavor.
