Einstein’s Birthday and PI Day on 3.14.25 and 3.15.25: Uniquely Princeton
Princeton’s most famous resident, Albert Einstein, was born on March 14,, the numeric equivalent of pi, and the town is ready for its annual Pi Day Celebration, including a Pie-Eating Contest, Pi Recitation Contest, Einstein Look-Alike Contest, tours, and more. (Pi is a mathematical constant, the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter).
For the non-competitive among us, there are Dinky Rides with Einstein (featuring Bill Agress, a professional reenactor), a Pi-Rade, author presentations, family-friendly self-guided Albert Einstein tours, and a Genius Pub Crawl for adults.
“Pi Day Princeton is a real treat for anyone who loves pi, pie, and Einstein!” says Mimi Omiecinski, founder of and coordinator of the event. “The residents of Princeton adore this quirky event and I hope everyone will come visit our town to celebrate Pi Day Princeton. With events on Friday and Saturday, it’s the perfect year to stay overnight and really experience Einstein’s hometown!”
The event has many partners. Princeton Public Library hosts the Einstein Look-Alike Contest, Pi Recitation, and Pi-Rade; Princeton Shopping Center and McCaffrey’s host the Pie Eating Contest; the Historical Society of Princeton hosts Benjamin Cohen, famed author and social media manager of Albert Einstein accounts; LiLLiPiES manages the Best Pie Experience; and the bent spoon and LiLLiPiES offer their annual fundraising event. Princeton Tour Company offers the Adult Pub Crawl with the Graduate by Hilton Princeton hotel and Nassau Inn, and self-guided Albert Einstein tours are available during the celebration at Conte’s, Jules, D’Angelo, Ivy Inn, Nomad Pizza and PJ’s Pancake House.
Pi Day Princeton was founded in 2009 by Omiecinski, who owns Princeton Tour Company — a full service tour company offering Princeton walking tours, trolley tours, ghost tours, and team building/private corporate events.
