The Philadelphia Horticultural Society (PHS) Flower Show, the nation’s largest and longest-running horticultural event and fundraiser, again unveils its floral, garden, and landscape expertise February 28 through March 7 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center, 1101 Arch Street, Philadelphia. Hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on March 8.
This year’s theme is “Rooted: Origins of American Gardening.” According to PHS, “gardens aren’t just made; they’re passed down through generations, carried across oceans, lifetimes, and lands. Every seed carries a story — what’s yours?”
The 2026 Flower Show marks the final chapter in a three-year trilogy of themes exploring the past, present, and future of gardening also including “United by Flowers” in 2024 and “Gardens of Tomorrow” in 2025.
Students from Mercer County Community College in West Windsor will have an entry that features New Jersey horticulturists: floriculture pioneer Peter Henderson, the Flemer family of Princeton Nurseries, and greenhouse innovator William Roberts.
Now in its 197th year, the award-winning PHS Philadelphia Flower Show is a world-renowned gardening event and PHS’ main fundraiser for its acclaimed greening work throughout the Philadelphia region that aims to advance health and well-being.
Highlights this year include an immersive entrance garden that blends historical influences with bold, modern design for a one-of-a-kind welcome; a special exhibition celebrating the nation’s 250th anniversary; the world’s largest houseplant and indoor plant competition with thousands of entries from a community of hundreds of expert and amateur horticulturists; the Experts at the Know to Grow speaker series, included with admission; and much more.
