Fresh Terhune Crops in Farm Store Daily
Terhune Orchards farm store is filled with fresh fruits and vegetables all year long. The Princeton-based farm grows over 40 varieties of crops and many varieties of each crop. The harvest also changes each week. The staff at Terhune pick every day to ensure that patrons are getting the freshest and most nutritional produce available.
July 2020 crops include beets (red, Chioggia), broccoli, green cabbage, carrots, cucumbers (regular, Kirby), hanging baskets (fuchsia, geranium, laguna, petunia), Herbs (arugula, basil, chives, cilantro, dill, curly parsley, Italian parsley, mint, oregano, sorrel, thyme), kale (Toscano, green curly, red scarlet), lettuce (green leaf, red leaf, Boston, romaine, baby lettuce), spring onions, shell peas, potted flowers (aloe, hibiscus, lantana, marigold, phlox), potted vegetables (lettuce, tomatoes), potted herbs (basil, catnip, lemon verbena, mint, oregano, flat parsley, rosemary, thyme, sage, sorrel), radishes, scallions, summer squash ( green and yellow zucchini),
field tomatoes, and Swiss chard.
Farming Best Practices at Terhune Orchards
Terhune Orchards farms over 200 acres in Princeton. The Mount family is an 11th generation of farmers in central New Jersey, and has been at the current location on Cold Soil Road for 40 years providing fresh fruit and vegetables, as well as a community destination.
Part of the growing methods at the farm involves maintaining crop diversity and heirloom seeds. For example, Terhune grows 35 types of apples, 15 types of carrots, 20 types of tomatoes, and 30 types of squash.
