Join Princeton Recreation for a Broadway Show

For the first time, the Princeton Recreation Department is going to Broadway — specifically to bring residents and guests to see The Lion King musical on March 2.

The trip is open to Princeton residents and non-residents ages 6 and up — per Broadway policies, participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

A bus will depart at 8 a.m., with plans to arrive in New York City by 10 a.m. Until noon, participants will have opportunities to explore New York City, with recommendations given by Recreation Department staff (additional fees may apply). The show starts at 1 p.m. and is approximately two hours and 30 minutes. Departure is planned for 3:45 p.m., with arrival in Princeton at about 5:30 p.m.

The non-refundable fee of $185 per person includes round-trip motor coach bus transportation and entrance to the show, in the mezzanine seating section.

Space is limited. To register, go to  register.communitypass.net/princeton under “2025 Community Programs.” For More Information, visit princetonrecreation.com.

The Lion King has music by Elton John, lyrics by Tim Rice, and a book by Roger Allers and Irene Mecchi, with additional music and lyrics by Lebo M, Mark Mancina, Jay Rifkin, Julie Taymor, and Hans Zimmer. It is based on the 1994 Walt Disney Animation Studios’ film. Directed by Taymor, the musical features actors in animal costumes as well as giant, hollow puppets. The show is produced by Disney Theatrical Productions.

The musical debuted on July 8, 1997. It is Broadway’s third longest-running show in history and the highest grossing Broadway production of all time.

This trip requires a minimum number of participants by January 31. If the minimum is not met, the trip will be canceled and payments refunded. Early registration is encouraged to secure your spot and help ensure the trip’s success.

If you require accommodations, email Chris Petrucelli at the Recreation Department or call 609.921.9480.
