Mercer Museum Hosts Holiday Open House Dec. 2

 It’s not too early to get in a festive mood and plan for the Mercer Museum Holiday Open House on Tuesday, December 2 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the museum, 84 South Pine Street, Doylestown, Pa. Admission is free.

Delight in the sounds, scents, and scenes of the holidays with local musical performances, kids’ crafts and activities, and a visit with Santa in the Mercer Museum’s Historic Log House.

The Central Bucks East High School Brass Ensemble procession to the Historic Log House begins at 7:15 p.m.

The Great Hall will offer a family coloring page activity from 7 to 9 p.m.; a dreidel game with Temple Judea is from 7:15 to 8 p.m.; and in the Learning Center, located off of the Main Museum lobby, there will be an apple cider refreshment station and family crafts and activities.

The Martin & Warwick Foundation Exhibition Gallery features a special exhibition, “The Doan Gang: Outlaws of the Revolution.”

In the Central Court, the Central Bucks High School East Chamber Ensembles and Symphonic Band will perform from 7:20 to 7:50 p.m.; the Council Rock High School South Vocal Ensemble will perform from 8 to 8:30 p.m.; and the Bucks County Country Gentlemen will perform from 8:30 to 9 p.m.

The Elkins Gallery will offer the Delaware Valley Saxophone Quartet from 7:30 p.m. to 8:15 p.m., and the Souderton Area High School Choir from 8:30 to 9 p.m.

Outdoors at the Historic Log House and Quad will be the Council Rock High School South Carolers from 7 to 7:45 p.m.; and photos with Santa, inside the Log House, from 7:15 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The Mercer Museum is a six-story reinforced concrete castle designed by Henry Mercer (1856-1930) and completed in 1916.  The Smithsonian affiliate offers visitors a unique window into pre-Industrial America through 60 different crafts and trades, and is one of the world’s most comprehensive portraits of pre-Industrial American material culture.
