Special Valentine’s Story Day and Crafts for Kids

Celebrate Valentine’s Day with the Princeton Public Library and Labyrinth Books when children’s book author Pooja Makhijani shares and signs copies of her new picture book, Bread Is Love, followed by a love-themed craft activity. The book is illustrated by Lavanya Naidiu.

The program is on Saturday, February 14 at 10:30 a.m. at the Princeton Public Library, 65 Witherspoon Street. It is for children ages 2 and up with an adult caregiver.

Makhijani’s new book is a touching story of a mother and her children and their weekly baking ritual, celebrating the act of baking and eating bread and sharing it with family.

Makhijani is a writer, mother, and baker. Her work has appeared in The New York Times, The Washington Post, NPR, Teen Vogue, and Bon Appétit, among others. She lives in Central New Jersey with her daughter, the inspiration for Bread Is Love.

According to the publisher (Roaring Brook Press), “Bread is many things. Bread is simple. The dough can be made with just flour, salt, starter, and water. Bread is science. With the right ingredients, in the right amounts, the dough grows and changes. Bread can be unpredictable. Sometimes it rises, like a soft pillow. Sometimes it’s flat and crunchy. But bread is always delicious, especially when it is made with love.”
