Spring Planting at Billy Johnson Mountain Lakes Nature Preserve
Join Friends of Princeton Open Space at the Billy Johnson Mountain Lakes Nature Preserve for planting sessions! Volunteers will work under the guidance of Natural Resources and Stewardship Director Anna Corichi to plant 5,000+ herbaceous plugs in the Forest Restoration site. Native wildflowers, grasses, and ferns have been selected to provide quality habitat for pollinators, birds, and other wildlife, as well as to withstand tough site pressures such as those posed by white-tailed deer and invasive species. The plantings will also help to protect local water quality by filtering and slowing runoff before it enters Mountain Brook.
Registration is required to attend. Each date has a morning (9 a.m. to noon) and afternoon (1 to 4 p.m.) session.
Dates include:
Saturday and Sunday, April 17-18
Saturday and Sunday, May 15-16
Saturday, June 5
