Racing Pigs, Rides, and More at State Fair Meadowlands
For those who want to see if “our state fair is the best state fair,” as the Rogers and Hammerstein song declares, New Jersey’s State Fair Meadowlands is open through July 7, with fireworks on July 3 and 4. As the song concludes, “it’s the best state fair in the state.”
Along with more than 100 rides, plus shows and fair goodies like funnel cake and fried Oreos, the state fair offers games like popping balloons, throwing rings, and games of chance. Fair favorites include Rosalie’s Racing Pigs competing in swine runs, as well as magicians and illusionists. A petting zoo features animals like llamas, camels, and a kangaroo, and visitors can ride in Batman’s Batcopter.
Circus Lena is a vintage circus making its New York/New Jersey metro area debut. Taking place within an Italian-style big tent, the circus features acrobats and thrilling aerialists, as well as comedians and jugglers.
Also on view are Cycle Circus’s FMX freestyle show with cycling aerial stunts and pyrotechnics; and a step back in time with Jurassic Kingdom, starring dinosaur puppets that interact with the audience.
Try the corn dogs, gyros, and cheesesteaks with one of 30 flavors of lemonade. State Fair Meadowlands’ food was featured on the Cooking Channel’s Carnival Eats in 2023.
Parking is free for all fairgoers. Those taking ride services to the fair can be dropped off in a designated area.
This year’s fair is sponsored by Renewal by Andersen and Sundance Vacations. For more information, tickets, schedules, and directions visit njfair.com.
